The Chamber Choir is an
auditioned ensemble of 24 to 32 men and women who perform advanced
literature in English, Latin, French, German, and Spanish. The
ensemble explores musical styles ranging from medieval to contemporary
and jazz. Folk songs from around the world are also regularly performed
and often include accompaniment on non-traditional instruments.
Auditions for Chamber
Choir take place in March prior to registration for fall classes.
Additional auditions will be held the first week of classes if there are
still openings in the ensemble. Students in Chamber Choir are expected to read music proficiently.
Students in Chamber Choir must also sing in the College Choir.
Students in Chamber Choir are expected to participate in the ensemble
for the entire year. This allows the ensemble to build a
well-balanced sound within each section as well as in the ensemble as a
whole. If a student must leave the ensemble during the Spring
semester, then auditions will be held during the first week of the
Spring semester to find necessary replacements.
