The Adrian College Bands
consist of the Concert/Marching Band, the Jazz Band and the Pep Band. These
ensembles are made up of students from across the campus, including
music majors as well as
students from almost every other academic department. Many of the
students choose to take private lessons on their instrument. The bands regularly perform throughout
the year for special events and concerts.
The 2008-09 Concert /
Marching Band is currently made up of 70 students. This fall, band
members will prepare and perform three field shows and march in the
Adrian College Homecoming Parade. In the Spring, the
band will rehearse and perform traditional concert band literature in
Dawson Auditorium. Check the
schedule for their upcoming rehearsals
and concerts.
The Adrian College Jazz
Band rehearses and performs Big Band charts throughout the year in
Dawson Auditorium and at special events on campus and in the community.
Every spring, they take part in the annual Lenawee County Jazz Festival.
The Pep Band is a select
group of students who play at home basketball and hockey games.
Students may enroll for work-study hours and receive pay for their
participation in the Pep Band.
GET INVOLVED: Research in
2007 shows that almost three-quarters of today's business executives
(73%) were involved in some type of music program while in school. Just
over three quarters (77%) recommend their children get involved in music
at their schools and just under half (47%) support music programs by
donating money. Cumulatively, the longer that executives participated in
music programs, the more successful they became in life.
